Freire Charter Middle School is currently seeking a full time Emotional Support Special Education teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. This person will be responsible for designing and providing emotional support to students in grades 5 through 8 in a variety of classroom settings.  The Emotional Support teacher will work closely with other instructional staff, support staff, and administration with the goals of academic and behavioral growth for all students. 

The ideal candidate is a professional who has a passion for working with students who need extra behavioral supports, the knowledge of a variety of creative engagement practices in an inclusion setting, the skills to reflect on the effectiveness of those practices and adapt accordingly, experience creating and implementing positive behavior support plans, and a strong organizational system for collecting student data.

  • Previous successful experience working with urban youth in a middle school setting
  • Previous successful classroom experience
  • PA Special Education PK-8 certification
